Licensing Options:
Versions
There are two basic versions available for purchase.
End-User
- This version is designed to utilize
the pre-designed Host Forms in a production environment.
In most cases, an application front-end is used by the
user and the Host-Access functions are called from within
there. The Host-Access product acts as an integrated
host interface to the front-end application.
Developer
- This version is used to design and modify
Host Forms utilized to interface with the host terminal
session. Included are Access forms and tables used to
develop the host interface. This facility provides access
to the Host table which contains all of the Host Forms
and all their associated records. This version includes the End-User version for testing
purposes only. You are not permitted to utilize the
developer version for production use (installed in an
on-going repetitive process). You are only permitted
to utilize the End-User portion to test any modifications
made to existing forms or the design of new forms.
Licenses
Four types of licenses are available depending on
the number of users of the Host-Access software at your
company.
Single User
- You are granted one license of
the Host-Access software (End-User and/or Developer
versions) to be installed onto one personal computer.
You are not permitted to utilize this license of the
software to automate the Host-Access system as defined
in the Host Server license below. This license is designed
to provide a single user the ability to utilize the
Host-Access system in a production environment (End-User)
or to develop Host Forms used to interface with the
host-based systems (Developer).
LAN (up to 250 users)
- You are permitted to
install and use the software on a single LAN server
PC serving from 2 to 250 workstations. If over 250 workstations
are accessing the software on a single LAN server, you
are required to purchase additional licenses. You are
NOT permitted to distribute, install or use the application,
or portions thereof, on additional PC's and/or LANs
at your company.
Site (250 to 1000 users)
- You are permitted
to install and use the software at one specific office
location of your company (if more than one site exists)
serving from 1 to 1000 workstations. If over 1000 workstations
are accessing the software at a single site, you are
required to purchase additional licenses. You are NOT
permitted to distribute, install or use the application,
or portions thereof, at additional office locations
or sites at your company.
Corporate (Unlimited users, > 1000)
- You are
permitted to install and use the software on any number
of PCs and/or LANs, at any and all office locations
owned and operated by your company. This option is considered
when more than 1000 users will be using the Host-Access
software.
Implementations
Application Specific - You are granted an
pseudo-unlimited license to install and use the Host-Access
software only as an integrated portion of an entire software
application. This software application will consist of
a customized front-end application which utilizes the
services of the Host-Access software as a back-end processor.
Implementing Host-Access in this manner, the customized
application front-end and the Host-Access software are
installed and managed as one single application. The cost
of the Host-Access software is included in the overall
cost of the complete software application. When you purchase
or otherwise distribute an additional copy of the complete
software application, the cost of the Host-Access software
is included if you purchased the LAN, Site or Corporate
license. If you purchased Single licenses, you must purchase
another single user license for each new copy distributed.
No development of additional new Host Forms or Host Scenarios
(uploading or downloading) is permitted. You are ONLY
permitted to customize the existing Forms and host functions
contained in the installed pre-configured Host-Access
software. Since each Host Form or function is designed
to manipulate a designated host screen, you are NOT permitted
to re-design the existing Host Forms to perform host activity
on host screens other than their originally designated
screens.
Host Server - comprises of a single End-User version
and at least one Developer version installed on a single
PC usually connected to a LAN. All host activity will
occur through this PC in a batch environment eliminating
the need to purchase individual licenses for each user
on the LAN. If the users do not need immediate access
to the host data, this is a possible solution. A back-end
process can funnel the host requests to the Host Server
where the host activity will actually take place. This
solution usually requires development of a host subsystem
to organize and facilitate the interface to the host from
external applications..
Unlimited Usage - You are permitted to develop
and implement as many Host Forms as needed. There are
no restrictions on the number of host systems accessed
or the number of functions utilized. This option provides
the greatest flexibility to globally implement Host-Access
in a corporate environment requiring many different host
scenarios.
